WiFi Antenna Communications
“If a place is designated as a WiFi “hot spot” (a spot with an active wireless network present) then any device with the proper antenna can connect to the network.”
The basis for most modern communications are antenna communications. Antennas make cell phones, wireless Internet, GPS, GSM and RFID systems possible. One of the newest entries into the global antenna communications network is the WiFi system. WiFi enables people to connect to the Internet whether they are hooked up to a wire or not. If a place is designated as a WiFi “hot spot” (a spot with an active wireless network present) then any device with the proper antenna can connect to the network. This includes laptop computers, mobile phones and video game consoles. The advent of WiFi has given people an enormous amount of freedom in where they work and play. In fact, WiFi is becoming so popular that most laptops are now automatically built with wireless communications antennas ready to connect as soon as they’re purchased.
Coffee houses, bookstores and other small businesses have been offering free WiFi to customers for years now. City-wide WiFi projects are a newer innovation and are facing challenges, but are gradually increasing in use across the world. Small towns are particularly interested in implementing free WiFi services for residents, as are large metropolitan areas. Some housing subdivisions also offer WiFi to residents at no charge and may advertise these services as a perk of buying a house there.
