Wideband Frequency Coverage Expands Options For Wireless M2M
Itasca, IL, April 1, 2015 – The volume and variety of applications in the wireless M2M industry continues to grow. Whether used to monitoring activities or issue directives from remote locations, flexible coverage and reliable connections are key to facilitating this growth.
Some applications will require high gain directional antennas to maintain a wireless connection; others will rely on small, embedded antennas located in the device itself. Moreover, other applications will need a solution somewhere in the middle.
Mobile Mark’s RMM-WLF and RMM-WHF antennas have provided countless M2M data connections. These workhorse antennas are extremely broad-banded and built to withstand harsh conditions or rough treatment.
The RMM-WLF provides coverage from 694-2700 MHz, effectively covering all cellular frequency options from 3G Cellular, 4G LTE, AWS, UMTS, XLTE, LTE-A and Spark. This makes it easy to easy to switch from one wireless M2M application (e.g. 3G Cellular) to another (e.g. 4G LTE). As wireless demands change, the antenna system can be connected to a different modem.
“Mobile Mark’s RMM-WLF can be used on Cellular Data channels worldwide as well as covering UMTS & AWS bands at 1.7 & 2.1 GHz.” according to Ken Lukowski, VP Sales, “It is ideal for many M2M (machine-to-machine) applications.”
The RMM-WHF covers 1700-6000 MHz, which includes AWS, WiMAX, High-frequency LTE, Dual-band 2.4 & 5 GHz WiFi, and 5.9 GHz DSRC. These antennas have excellent performance characteristics and perform well across the entire band.
Both antenna series offer great flexibility for stocking and installation because they can function over multiple systems
The RMM antennas are popular with the installers because they are easy to install and can be mounted with complete confidence in a wide range of settings. For example, the antennas can be mounted to any vehicle, container or bulkhead with a threaded stud mount. For optimal performance, a ground plane is recommended.
The antennas are typically shipped with 12-inches of cable and an SMA plug connector for fixed installations or with 15-feet of cable and an SMA plug connector for mobile installation. Other combinations are possible.
These rugged surface mount antennas are easy to install. They can be mounted on a car or truck for in-vehicle mobile communication, or they can be mounted in a fixed location for remote Cellular M2M communication. The antennas offer omni-directional coverage so there are not alignment issues.
The RMM-WLF and RMM-WHF are both manufactured in the US at Mobile Mark’s new production facility.
Mobile Mark designs antennas to meet Wireless M2M Military & Industrial specs for temperature, moisture, shock and vibration (IEEE-1478, EN-61373, MIL-810G and TIA-329.2-C). The antenna is also rated IP67 for dust and water ingress. The antennas also meet ROHS standards (restrictions on hazardous substances).
The RMM-WLF and RMM-WHF wireless M2M antennas will be on display at Exponor Chile, in Antofagasta, Chile, May 11-15, booth 404B.
